Training After completing General Surgery training at KEM Hospital in Mumbai, Dr Nilesh trained for 5 years at wellknown GI and Hepatopancreatobiliary units in London (Royal Free Hospital) and USA (Mayo Clinic).
He returned to India in 1997 and started his surgical career in Mumbai. He has pioneered Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgeyr in India, and was the first to perform Live Donor Liver transplantation in India in 1998. Subsequently, he has painstakingly worked in Surgical Gastroenterology pushing the envelope in complex surgery, making pancreas and liver surgery safe. He has propagated the growth of the specialty in India through CMEs, Training programs, Conferences, peer reviewed publications, Surgical training workshops, Laparoscopic training workshops, etc. He has run a successful GI Fellowship training program and been a teacher with the National Board of Examinations, running the Superspecialty training program at Jaslok in Surgical Gastroenterology.
